- Sound Fuzion
Sound Fuzion is a touring ensemble of eight vocalists and six instrumentalists which represents the University at high schools, corporate functions and University sponsored activities, in addition to performing as part of the Music School's annual concert season. The ensemble performs many different styles of popular music from the 1940s through the 1990s, including Top 40, rhythm & blues, jazz, alternative and country. Sound Fuzion is regionally known for its professional and dynamic style and has performed with the Memphis Symphony on three occasions to standing room only crowds. Auditions for Sound Fuzion are held in the spring semester for membership during the following academic year. Incoming freshmen may arrange an audition by contacting Dr. Lawrence Edwards. Membership requires a one year commitment to the ensemble. The group meets Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. - The Collegium Musicum is an ensemble specializing in the historically informed performance of medieval, renaissance and baroque repertoires featuring voices and early instruments. - Contemporary Chamber Players
- The Contemporary Chamber Players, directed by Kamran Ince dedicates its efforts to performing a broad spectrum of contemporary music, focusing on works from the past thirty years. Along with solo, chamber, and large ensemble works by composers from around the world, concerts often include music by guest composers or works by University of Memphis faculty and student composers.
