Semahat Demir Named Distinguished New Engineer

Dr.
Semahat Demir has been named a 2003 Distinguished New Engineer
of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Demir is an associate
professor of biomedical engineering with the University of
Memphis' Herff College of Engineering and the University of
Tennessee Health Science Center.
She
will be presented her award at the national SWE conference
in October in Birmingham, Ala.
The
award is given to SWE members with no more than 10 years of
full-time professional engineering experience in recognition
of their contributions to and leadership in the engineering
profession, SWE and other technical, professional and community
organizations. No more than five awards are made annually.
