This year's rivalry between the University of Memphis and Ole Miss isn't only on the football field. A friendly competition between the schools will have the goal of increasing blood donations as the teams prepare for their Labor Day game.
Lifeblood is encouraging alumni chapters of the U of M and Ole Miss to donate blood on behalf of their universities. Faculty, staff and students also are invited to participate.
Donors should tell the Lifeblood staff they are giving on behalf of the University of Memphis. Lifeblood will track donations through Sept. 2. You can track the leader online at www.lifeblood.org/events. The winning Alumni Association will be recognized during the Memphis-Ole Miss game Sept. 5.
A U of M campus Lifeblood center is located in the Rawlins Service Court Building, Suite 201. Volunteers may also donate blood at any of Lifeblood's 12 regional centers or during any mobile blood drive that is open to the public.
More information is available by phone at 529-6320 or on the Lifeblood Web site at www.lifeblood.org.
