The Friends of the Chucalissa Museum will present a $20,000 gift to the archaeological museum Monday, Aug. 22, at noon.

The funds will be used to support local and regional marketing efforts for the museum and to support Chucalissa's signature education and public events programs. The gift will enhance program content and public outreach and promotion for Native American Heritage Days, the Spring Powwow, and summer education programs.

Located on an actual archaeological site of a pre-Columbian Native American community, Chucalissa is home to the C.H. Nash Archaeological Museum and its associated collections and research facilities. It is a unit of the University of Memphis' Department of Anthropology.

More information about Chucalissa is available by phone at 785-3160 or via the Internet at chucalissa.memphis.edu.
