Leaders Will Teach the "Real World" to U of M Business Students

Local business leaders will teach morning classes and two
outstanding business people will be honored during the annual
Career Day on Tuesday, March 6, at the Fogelman College of
Business and Economics at The University of Memphis.
Ms.
Laurie Tucker, senior vice president for global marketing
with FedEx Corporate Services, will be awarded the Outstanding
Alumni Award from the College. Holiday Inns founder Kemmons
Wilson will be given special recognition for his contributions
to The University of Memphis in the form of the Kemmons Wilson
School of Hospitality and Resort Management.
Keynote
speaker at the luncheon will be Bob Eoff, president and general
manager of WREG television and divisional vice president of
The New York Times Broadcast Group, of which WREG is the local
affiliate.
Serving
as professors for the classes that day will be representatives
from AutoZone, Bank of Bartlett, BellSouth, Buckeye, FedEx,
First Tennessee Bank, Memphis Cleaning Solutions, Memphis
Light, Gas & Water, Perkins Family Restaurants, and Takeda
Pharmaceuticals America. All the speakers are alumni of the
Fogelman College.
The
event is sponsored by the Business and Economics chapter of
the University of Memphis Alumni Association. Terry Morris
is president of the chapter, and Jon McGlothian is president-elect;
McGlothian is also chairman of this year's Career Day.
