The
Crucible, Arthur Miller's drama based on the notorious
17th century Salem witch trials in Puritan Massachusetts,
will be presented Feb. 20-22 and Feb. 25 through March 1 at
The University of Memphis. All performances will begin at
8 p.m. on the main stage in the Theatre and Dance Building.
The
drama pits evil and conformist doctrine against individual
will. A young woman, infatuated with a married man, accuses
his wife of witchcraft. Accusations fly as the community of
Salem is stirred into mass hysteria by superstition, paranoia
and malice. Like a timeless myth, The Crucible crosses the
boundaries of history, geography, culture and race.
Tickets
are $10 for the general public, $7 for faculty, senior citizens
and non-U of M students. U of M students each receive one
free ticket with presentation of a valid I.D.
For
reservations, call 901-678-2576.
