Honor Will Kick Off The U of M's Observance of Black History

Presentation
of the Authur S. Holmon Lifetime Achievement Award to Memphis
Mayor W.W. Herenton will officially begin the observance of
Black History Month at The University of Memphis.
The
ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Rose
Theatre on the U of M campus. It is sponsored by the office
of Minority Affairs at the University
The
award is named in honor of the native Memphian and former
associate dean of students for minority affairs at the University.
He served at the University for 25 years, retiring in 1997.
Other
activities are scheduled throughout February as part of the
campus observance of Black History Month.
