Dr.
Andrew Meyers, vice provost for research at the University
of Memphis, will become executive director of the FedEx Institute
of Technology, effective April 5. He will continue in his
role as vice provost for research.
U
of M President Shirley C. Raines said Meyers' appointment
is in keeping with the research initiative of the FedEx Institute
and three major research centers housed in the Institute:
the Institute for Intelligent Systems, the Center for Supply
Chain Management, and the Advanced Learning Center, as well
as portals to other research across the campus.
After
joining the University's psychology department in 1976, Meyers
served as director of the University's Center for Applied
Psychological Research from 1984-90. He was promoted to full
professor in 1986 and served as chairman of the Department
of Psychology from 1990-2003.

and doctoral degrees from Pennsylvania State University. His
research interests include assessment and treatment of problem
gambling, adult and child eating disorders, smoking cessation
and body weight, and sports psychology.
Meyers

director March 31. Phillips will continue his association
with the FedEx Institute through June.
