The CINE Award-winning film Hoxie: The First Stand, directed by University of Memphis professor David Appleby, will be shown Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. in the University Center Faulkner Lounge. Admission is free, and the public is invited.

The documentary follows events in a small Arkansas town after the school board voluntarily desegregated its schools in 1955, following the U.S. Supreme Court's Brown v. Board of Education decision.

A panel discussion of Hoxie residents who lived through the controversy will follow the hour-long film.

The film recently won a CINE Golden Eagle award.

Parking is available in the garage off of Zach Curlin or in nearby lots.

The event is sponsored by the University Libraries and the Friends of the University Libraries.
