More
than 50 middle school students and teachers will explore the
transportation industry from the inside July 12-23 during
the CN Summer Youth Transportation Institute at the University
of Memphis.
Now
in its second year, CNYTI introduces students to the relationships
between science, math, and engineering in school, as well
as to careers in the transportation industry. The two-week
program will include field trips to transportation centers
such as CN and FedEx, daily engineering design competitions,
and hands-on scientific experiments and simulations.
Activities
will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the Herff College of Engineering
on the U of M campus.
The
program is funded by CN, the Canadian National Railway Company.
CN is one of the largest railroads in North America, spanning
Canada and mid-America, from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans
to the Gulf of Mexico. It employs more than 450 people in
Memphis.
