of M Names Robert Bartlett New Vice President for Advancement

Dr.
Robert P. Bartlett has been named Vice President for Advancement
at the University of Memphis. The announcement was made by
U of M President Shirley Raines. When he begins work July
14, Bartlett will oversee the areas of development, marketing,
and alumni relations at the University.
Bartlett
comes to the U of M from the University of Rochester, where
he has served as Dean for Advancement with the College of
Arts, Sciences and Engineering, the largest advancement unit
at the New York university, since 1998. In that capacity Bartlett
managed the areas of fundraising, alumni and parent relations,
community outreach, and marketing communications. The College
conducted an 18-month sesquicentennial celebration and launched
a major capital campaign during his tenure at Rochester.
He
began his college advancement career as a development officer
with Yale University's Divinity School and later served as
Associate Director of Corporate, Foundation and Research Relations
at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He has been Director
of Corporate Relations for the University of Maine System
and for the University of Chicago. At Chicago, he was later
named Associate Dean for External Affairs for the Harris Graduate
School of Public Policy Studies.
Bartlett
holds doctoral and master's degrees from Cornell and a bachelor's
degree from Stetson University in Florida. He was also a post-doctoral
fellow at the University of Chicago.
