River City Writers Series Will Present Author John Dufresne April 5-6

The University of Memphis' River City Writers Series will welcome author John Dufresne for three events April 5-6. All events are free and open to the public.

On Tuesday, April 5, at 8 p.m., Dufresne will hold a reading of his work in the Fogelman Executive Center, Room 123. A book-signing and refreshments will follow.

On Wednesday, April 6, at 11:30 a.m., he will conduct an interview with students in Patterson Hall, Room 456. At 3 p.m. Dufresne will teach a writing workshop in Patterson Hall, Room 403.

Dufresne is the author of three novels – Louisiana Power & Light, Love Warps the Mind a Little, and Deep in the Shade of Paradise – and a short story collection, The Way That Water Enters Stone. His first two novels were New York Times' "Notable Books of the Year." Dufresne has published a new book on fiction writing, The Lie that Tells a Truth. He teaches in the creative writing program at Florida International University.

The River City Writers Series is sponsored by the Student Activities Council, the English Department, the Creative Writing Club, Sigma Tau Delta, the Hohenberg Foundation, Deborah Talbot, Academic Enrichment Funds, Public Service Funds, and Friends of the University Libraries.
