The 17 th annual Memphis in May Student Affairs Conference (MIMSAC) will be on the University of Memphis campus May 19. The conference will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. in the FedEx Institute of Technology.
Since its origins in 1989, MIMSAC has been sponsored by the division of Student Affairs. This year, the conference will be a partnership between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.
Dr. Vincent Tinto, professor and chair of the Higher Education Program at Syracuse University, will be the keynote speaker. He has conducted research and written extensively on higher education, particularly on learning communities and the social dimensions of student learning, engagement and retention.
The 2006 conference theme is "Implementing Integrative Learning: Pathways That Retain Students for Success." Conference sessions are designed to stimulate dialogues that will help campuses plan programs, services, curricular and co-curricular approaches and pedagogies, and develop institutional leadership to support and advance integrative learning designs.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit program proposals for conference sessions that focus on integrative learning. The Call for Programs is available on the MIMSAC Web site at www.memphis.edu/mimsac by clicking "Call for 2006 Programs" on the navigational bar. Program proposals will be accepted through March 24.
