Author Dave Smith will visit the University of Memphis' River City Writers Series for three events March 21-22. He will give a reading of his work March 21 at 8 p.m. in the University Center Faulkner Lounge. On March 22, Smith will give an interview on writing from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in Patterson Hall, Room 456, and conduct a poetry workshop from 3-5 p.m. in Patterson Hall, Room 403. All events are free and open to the public.
Smith is the author of 17 books of poetry, most recently The Wick of Memory: New and Selected Poems, 1970-2000, and two works of fiction. Among Smith's many honors are fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. He is the Elliott Coleman Professor of Poetry at Johns Hopkins University.
