The University of Memphis will host the fourth annual Off-Campus Housing Information Fair on Wed., March 21, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rose Theatre. This event is sponsored by Adult and Commuter Student Services, which provides campus and community resources and services to non-traditional age students (students who are 25 years or older) and commuter students (students who do not live in University-owned housing).
The purpose of this event is to provide students, faculty and staff with an opportunity to obtain information about various off-campus housing options and services in the community. The University welcomes the opportunity to connect with the Memphis and Mid-South community in a collaborative effort to help students, faculty and staff meet their needs. The campus community is invited to speak one-on-one with representatives from local housing and apartment properties and other related vendors about amenities, services and specials.
Admission is free and door prizes will be awarded! Pouncer, the University's mascot, is scheduled to make a special guest appearance.
In conjunction with the Off-Campus Housing Information Fair, Adult and Commuter Student Services will also host a training seminar entitled, “Keys to Successful Apartment Living, " on Tues., March 13, 2007 from 9:40 to 11 a.m. in the Rose Theatre Side Lobby. The seminar will focus on topics such as tenant rights and responsibilities, lease agreements, what to look for during your housing search and other subjects pertaining to off-campus housing. Facilitators will include Michele Harris, residential development manager at Crye-Leike Property Management, and Brenda Oats-Williams, attorney at Memphis Area Legal Services.
