of M's CCFA Will Mark 25th Anniversary Nov. 15

The
University of Memphis College of Communication of Fine Arts
will celebrate its 25th anniversary with an evening of reflection,
recognition, entertainment and fellowship on Friday, Nov.
15. Commemorative events will include:
- 5:30
p.m. - Preview of Professor David Appleby's documentary
"Hoxie: The First Stand"
- 5:30-7:30
p.m. - Tour of the "Barbara Kasten: Reflections of
Egypt" exhibit at the Art Museum with CCFA multi-media
exhibition and reception. At 7 p.m., there will be with
remarks by Dean Richard R. Ranta.
- 8
p.m. - Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods," a
joint venture between the Theatre and Dance Department and
the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. Admission is $15. For

The
CCFA was created in 1977 from the College of Arts and Sciences
and today has six units: The Department of Art, the Art Museum,
the Department of Communication, the Department of Journalism,
the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music, and the Department of
Theatre and Dance. Also included in the CCFA are the Institute
of Egyptian Art and Archaeology, High Water Recording Company,
the student-produced television show "Insight,"
student-operated, jazz-format commercial radio station WUMR-FM
92, and the student newspaper, The Daily Helmsman.
Ranta has been dean of the college since its beginning.
