Exhibit Offers Reflections of Egypt

A
Chicago artist's photographic images of ancient Egypt will
be on display beginning Nov. 16 at the Art Museum of The University
of Memphis. "Barbara Kasten: Reflections of Egypt"
will run through Jan. 18, 2003.
A
reception Friday, Nov. 15, will make the opening of the show.
It will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Art Museum.
Kasten may be best known for her large-scale photographs of
notable architectural sites. Many of her recent works, with
their use color, light and focus, depict artifacts of ancient
cultures.
Kasten
is represented in many public collections, including those
at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of
Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and the
Los Angeles County Museum of Art, as well as those in galleries
in Japan, Mexico, Poland and Lithuania.
She
earned an MFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts
and received a Fulbright Hays Fellowship and a National Endowment
for the Arts Fellowship.
Admission
is free to the reception and the museum. Regular museum hours
