Scholars Will Compete Nov. 16 in Tiger Academic Classic

Some
of the brightest young minds in the Mid-South will gather
at The University of Memphis on Saturday, Nov. 16, for the
second annual Tiger Academic Classic. The competition will
be hosted by the University's Herff College of Engineering
and will take place in the engineering classroom buildings
from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Some
30 academic teams from 22 high schools will compete. Each
team will play five preliminary matches; the top 16 teams
will advance to a single-elimination playoff. Questions will
cover all academic fields, for example, literature, math,
geography and philosophy. A few questions on popular culture
will also be included.
Participating
schools include White Station, Trezevant, West Memphis Christian
School, Lausanne Collegiate School, Cordova, Bartlett, St.
Benedict at Auburndale, Christian Brothers, Hernando, Germantown,
Millington Central, Olive Branch, Collierville, Houston, Hardin
County, Wooddale, Bolton, St. Agnes Academy, Hillsboro, Munford,
Southern Baptist Educational Center and Westminster Academy.
