Wins Tiger Academic Classic; Cordova, Houston & St. Benedict

Brothers High School won the second Tiger Academic Classic
hosted by the Herff College of Engineering at The University
of Memphis on Nov. 16. Cordova High School took second place,
Houston High finished third, and St. Benedict at Auburndale
was fourth.
The
competition allowed high school students to test their knowledge
by answering academically-based questions on a wide range
of subjects, including literature, math, geography, philosophy
and popular culture. Each team played five preliminary matches
followed by a 16-team single-elimination playoff.
More
than 160 students participated. The top 10 individual scorers
were named to a tournament all-star team. They were, in order
of score, Joel Avila of Westminster Academy, Luis Huerta of
St. Benedict, Camille Dobbins of Cordova, Andy Bost of Lausanne
Collegiate School, Ben Gabor of Houston, Peter Sculley of
CBHS, Will Brian of Collierville, Matt Morgan of Bartlett,
Jeffery Harriss of Hillsboro, and Steven Underwood of Olive
Branch.
