Acclaimed
author Bobbie Ann Mason will visit the University of Memphis
Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 18-19, as part of the River City
Writers Series.
Scheduled
events, which are all free and open to the public, include:
Nov.
18
- Mason
will visit a class at 1 p.m. in Patterson Hall, Room 403.
- She
will read from her work at 8 p.m. in Fogelman Executive
Center, Room 123.
- A
reception and book signing will follow. Convenient parking
is available in the Fogelman Executive Center garage.
Nov.
19
- Mason
will conduct a question-and-answer session from 9:30-10:45
a.m. in Patterson Hall, Room 456.
Mason
is writer-in-residence at the University of Kentucky. She
is the author of several collections of short stories, including
Midnight Magic, Zigzagging Down a Wild Trail
and Shiloh and Other Stories, which won the 1982 Pen-Hemingway
Award. Her novels include Feather Crowns and In
Country, which was made into a 1989 film starring Bruce
Willis. Mason's memoir, Clear Springs: A Family Story,
was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Her most recent publication
is a biography of Elvis Presley.
