Institute will Celebrate First Anniversary Nov. 16

The
FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis
will mark its one-year anniversary with an open house Tuesday,
Nov. 16, 9 11:30 a.m.
During
the open house, visitors can tour the facilities, learn more
about current research housed in the Institute and enjoy refreshments.
Lobby displays and demonstrations will showcase current research
conducted by the Institute for Intelligent Systems, Center
for Multimedia Arts, Advanced Learning Center, Mars Rover
Program, Integrated Microscopy Center, Center for Supply Chain
Management and Center for Earthquake Research and Information.
Over
the past year, the FedEx Institute of Technology has worked
to become a resource for researchers on campus and external
research partners.
The
Institute is home to 11 research centers in areas such as
biotechnology, sensing technology, geo-science, multimedia
arts, business supply chain, work space planning and artificial
intelligence.
Since
its opening last November, the Institute has hosted more than
200 events for organizations such as MTV, FedEx, Governor
Phil Bredesen, and the musculoskeletal industry. An estimated
50,000 people have visited the institute from Nobel
Prize winner and former Head of State F.W. de Klerk to regional
school children.
