of M Will Host Program Nov. 18 for Students with Learning
Disabilities

The
office of Student Disability Services at the University of
Memphis will host an informational program for prospective
students on Thursday, Nov. 18. "Making the Transition
to College for Students with Learning Disabilities and/or
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder" will be held
from 7 to 9 p.m. in Brister Hall, Room 220.
The
program is designed for high school juniors and seniors with
learning disabilities or ADHD, and for their parents, guidance
counselors, and special education personnel.
The
staff of Student Disability Services at the U of M will discuss
how to make sound decisions about college, the differences
between high school and college accommodations, the documentation
requirements for college accommodations, the SDS program at
the U of M, and new University admissions requirements.
There
is no charge for the program; however, reservations are necessary.
Persons planning to attend should call 901-678-2880 no later
than Nov. 11.
