The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music will present its third annual Holiday Concert at 12:30 p.m. (Central) December 6, 2006 at the Michael D. Rose Theatre on the University of Memphis campus. It is free and open to the public. The concert will feature traditional and lesser-known seasonal favorites performed by student ensembles including Sound Fuzion, Southern Comfort Jazz Orchestra, the University brass, trombone and tuba-euphonium ensembles, and a classical guitar quartet.
According to Dr. Patricia Hoy, Director of the School of Music, “This is our gift to the community and especially to the faculty, staff and students of the University.” She adds that it is an opportunity for many of the School’s faculty and students, who might not ordinarily perform together, to collaborate on a single concert. “Preparing for the concert puts us in the holiday spirit and that mood is passed on to the audience.”For additional information on the event, please call 901.678.5400 or visit the School’s web site at http://music.memphis.edu.
