"Rumble
in the Jungle" Will Celebrate 90 Years of U of M Homecomings

Fall
is in the air, and that means Homecoming. While The University
of Memphis Tigers won't play Conference USA rival Houston
until Nov. 2, there are plenty of other activities during
this year's "Rumble in the Jungle: 90 Years on the Prowl."
Events
include:
Monday,
Oct. 21 - Eighth Annual Alumni Golf Classic at TPC Southwind,
hosted by the U of M Alumni Association to benefit the Legacy
Scholarship Program. For details, call 901-678-5314 or e-mail

Friday,
Oct. 25, 7 p.m. - Homecoming kickoff celebration on the
Ned R. McWherter Library lawn, featuring fireworks and music
by Hoosier Daddy
Saturday,
Oct. 26, noon to 7 p.m. - Bandmasters Championship, produced
by the U of M Band Alumni Chapter and sponsored by WREG-TV,
at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Tickets are $7 for adults,
$5 for students ages 6-17, free for children 5 and under.
Band students in the Memphis area may each obtain a free ticket

- Field Day on the University Center Alumni Mall, complete
with a NASCAR simulator and rock-climbing wall

Thursday, Oct. 31, 9:30 p.m. - Costume roller skate,
Skateland on Mt. Moriah, free for U of M students with valid
I.D

Nov. 1
1 p.m. - Lawn display and judging, University Center Alumni
Mall
8 p.m. - Party at the Peabody, free admission for students
and alumni
Saturday,
Nov. 2
11 a.m.-1 p.m. - Homecoming Alumni Tent Event in the Liberty
Bowl Memorial Stadium Armory parking lot, with barbecue plates
for $6 per person.
1 p.m. - Football game between U of M Tigers and University
of Houston Cougars. To order tickets, call 901-678-2331. Halftime
entertainment will feature the "Mighty Old Sound of the
South" alumni marching band and the announcement of the
winners of the Mr. and Ms. U of M titles.
