School Will Hold Community Open House Oct. 4-8

The
Campus School at the University of Memphis is holding its
first annual Community Open House the week of Oct. 4-8 from
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. Businesses and organizations
interested in learning more about this unique facility and
how they can support it are welcome to attend. To schedule
a tour date and time, call 678-2285.
As
the University's laboratory school for grades one through
six, Campus School provides inservice training in an experimental
environment to more than 500 pre-service teachers each year.
The school conducts long- and short-term projects as well
as learning partnerships with University departments.
Among
its many honors are the Soaring Eagle Award, an incentive
award from the Tennessee Department of Education for the fourth
consecutive year; the Greater Memphis Quality Award, Level
II; and the Memphis City Schools' bronze-level achievement
award for exemplary or above-average scores on the state of
Tennessee's Report Card.
