8 Faculty Talks Will Center on Areas of Focus and Excellence

The
University of Memphis will hold its Fall 2004 Colloquium on
Friday, Oct. 8, beginning at 1 p.m. in the FedEx Institute
of Technology. The event also will include research and administrative
exhibitors. The public is invited to attend this free event.
Faculty
members participating on the University's "areas of focus/excellence
teams" will deliver presentations on the following:

- "Rescuing
Urban Schools: Spies, Saboteurs and Saints" with Robert
B. Cooter Jr. and Kathleen S. Cooter
- "Renewing
Our Commitment to Community Health" with Kenneth Ward
2:15-3:05
p.m.
- "Writing
and Learning at the University of Memphis: The promise of
New Technologies" with Emily Thrush, Loel Kim, Susan
Popham, Sage Graham, and Art Graesser
- "Homeland
Security and the University of Memphis," a panel discussion
with Richard Janikowski, Irma Russell, and Arch Johnston

- "Creating
and Directing a Premiere Production" with Stephen Hancock,
John Baur, and Keith Grant
- "Developing
Shared Knowledge of Community Initiatives," a panel
discussion with Stan Hyland, Allison Graham, Barbara Ellen
