Oct. 11 Lecture Will Focus on Workers With Disabilities

An estimated 70 percent of individuals with disabilities are not employed. In an effort to illustrate how employers can utilize this untapped resource, the University of Memphis will host a lecture by Dr. W. Roy Grizzard, assistant secretary of labor for disability employment policy. He will discuss "Workers with Disability: Ready for Tomorrow's Jobs Today" Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. in the FedEx Institute of Technology's Methodist Presentation Theatre.

Grizzard advises the secretary of labor on issues related the employment of people with disabilities. He works within agencies of the U.S. Department of Labor to increase employment opportunities for adults and youth with disabilities.

The lecture is hosted by the College of Education 's Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research and the vice provost for academic affairs. For more information, call 678-2156.
