Homecoming Activities Oct. 21-22 Will Bring A Wave of True Blue Fever

It's fall, and that means Homecoming and a swirl of activities for True Blue Tiger fans and alumni at the University of Memphis. Along with many student events, activities for alumni and the general public are planned. They include:

Friday, Oct. 21 : 5 p.m. – Half Century Club Reception at the Alumni Center for graduates and class friends of 50 years or more.

5:30 p.m. – Homecoming Parade on the U of M campus hosted by the Alumni Association and Student Activities council. The parade route includes Zach Curlin, Walker, Patterson, and Central between Patterson and Innovation Drive. ( NOTE : Between 4 and 7 p.m., entrance to and exit from the campus may be limited briefly; Memphis Police and U of M Police will direct traffic at major intersections; however, Central Avenue will remain open to traffic throughout the parade.)

Parade highlights will include float and banner competitions, the Mighty Sound of the South marching band, ROTC cadets, U of M spirit squads, mascot Pouncer, and music from Sound Fuzion. Food and drinks will be available.

6:30 p.m., Pep Rally immediately following the parade – corner of Central and Patterson, outside the Fogelman College of Business. Tiger Coach Tommy West will be the special guest.

Saturday, Oct. 22 : 12:30 p.m. – True Blue Barn Bash BBQ at the Multi-Purpose Barn located on the west side of Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium near Gate 3. The public is invited. Admission is $5 per person. For more information, call 901-678-2586.

2:30 p.m. – Football game, U of M vs. East Carolina University at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. For tickets, call 901-678-2331 or visit www.gotigersgo.com

The U of M Heritage Room, located in Brister Hall, will be open Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon. Visitor parking will be available in the Wilder Tower lot and in the lot across Patterson from Johnson Hall.
