|Art Department Chair Receives Tennessee Arts Commission Fellowship

Jed Jackson, chair of the Art Department at the University of Memphis, has received a Tennessee Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship for the 2005-06 fiscal year.
The award includes a cash payment of $5,000 and an exhibit at the Tennessee Arts Commission gallery in Nashville next summer.
The fellowships are given to artists whose work has been recognized by an independent curator as being of vital cultural importance to Tennessee. Jackson's work has been exhibited recently at Vanderbilt University, the Frist Center, and the Cheekwood Museum of Art, all in Nashville. He also exhibited this year in Amsterdam and France.Only a limited number of people receive these awards each year. Previous award winners from the U of M Art Department include professor and sculptor Greely Myatt and Larry Edwards, faculty emeritus.
