Author and Scholar Jeffrey Meyers Will Speak at U of M Oct. 9

Writer and scholar Jeffrey Meyers will discuss "Johnson, Boswell and Modern Biography" at a British and Commonwealth Studies Forum at the University of Memphis. The talk will be October 9 from 4-5:30 p.m. in Patterson Hall, Room 456.

Meyers is author of more than 40 books, including biographies of Katherine Mansfield, Wyndham Lewis, Ernest Hemingway, Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper and George Orwell. His titles include Modigliani: A Life, Married to Genius and The Spirit of Biography.

Meyers has worked as a professional writer and been a visiting professor at the Universities of Kent and Massachusetts, Jemison Professor at the University of Alabama, and visiting scholar at the University of California Berkeley. He has published 43 books and 550 articles on modern American, English and European literature.
