Will Bring True Blue Spirit to U of M Campus

Fall
means football, and football means Homecoming, which will
be celebrated the weekend of Oct. 1 & 2 at the University
of Memphis. Along with many student events, the Homecoming
schedule also includes activities for alumni and the general
public:
Friday,
Oct. 1
5
p.m. - Half-Century Club reception honoring the class of 1954
at the Grand Ballroom of the Holiday Inn at the University
of Memphis. All graduates and class friends of 50 years or
more are invited to attend.
5:30
p.m. - Homecoming Parade on the U of M campus along Patterson
Avenue and Central Avenue. Participants will include U of
M President Shirley Raines, Ingram Hill, the Memphis Blues
Queens, Sound Fuzion, ROTC cadets, the Mighty Sound of the
South marching band, Tiger Mascot Pouncer, and spirit squads.
There also will be float and banner competitions and plenty
of food and drinks available.
6:30
p.m. - Pep rally at the U of M's Central Avenue parking lot
with Tiger Coach Tommy West, Ingram Hill, Sound Fuzion, the
Mighty Sound of the South marching band, and cheer squads.
The rally will feature a salute to the founding members of
the Highland Hundred, the University's football booster group.
7
p.m. - Alumni Association party at the Holiday Inn at the
University of Memphis. There will be live music, appetizers,
and alumni and club chapter gatherings.
Saturday,
Oct. 2
1
p.m. - Homecoming game against C-USA rival the University
of Houston, Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
