The University of Memphis has entered into a partnership with software company SAS to offer professional training courses at the University. SAS is a leading provider of business analytics software and is the world's largest privately held software company. The U of M will be only the second university to provide SAS training nationally, and will offer the same courses available at SAS training centers.
More than 25 companies and organizations in the Memphis area use SAS, including large employers such as FedEx Corp., AutoZone, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , International Paper, Methodist Healthcare, and Acxiom Corp.
"This training location will fill a need for our community corporate partners, as well as for the larger Mid-South market," said Stephanie Thompson, associate director of the Office of Institutional Research. Thompson will serve as the U of M SAS Center coordinator. She will assist in the development of company-specific training courses and function as an SAS resource for the corporate community.
The training is part of a larger vision for providing custom-designed SAS training for U of M's partner companies as well as the creation of an SAS resource center for University faculty, staff and students.
The first class begins Nov. 9. A schedule of all Memphis classes is available online at http://support.sas.com/memphis.
