The InMotion Musculoskeletal Institute, in cooperation with Medtronic Sofamor Danek and the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis, will sponsor a lecture by Dr. Rocky S. Tuan, chief of the Cartilage Biology and Orthopaedics Branch of National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases of the National Institutes of Health.
Tuan's talk, "Application of Nanofibrous Scaffold for Skeletal Tissue Engineering," will be held at the FedEx Institute at 6 p.m. September 11. It will be preceded by a reception at 5 p.m.
Tuan's research focuses on the development of musculoskeletal joint tissues, such as cartilage that cover the ends of bones. He will address the role of nanotechnology in the creation of new musculoskeletal tissues, specifically the development of biodegradable biomaterials used as a means of bolstering the body's ability to grow new cells and to repair or regenerate damaged or degenerative cartilage tissues for diseases such as osteoarthritis. For reservations, contact Gretchan Mishler by phone at 901-759-3285 or via email at email@example.com.
