|Learning Commons Will Celebrate Grand Opening Sept. 19

The new Learning Commons at the University of Memphis’ McWherter Library will observe its grand opening Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2-4 p.m. Remarks will begin at 2 p.m., followed by refreshments and special tours.
The Commons is a place for enhanced individual and collaborative study, offering an exciting blend of information resources and information technology. It provides more computers and peripheral equipment, group workstations with clusters of multiple computers, and group study rooms with white boards. Users have access 24 hours a day to computers and reference materials, and staff are on hand to offer research and technical assistance.
The first floor Commons area is open around the clock except during semester breaks. The expanded Commons, on the third and fourth floors, is open during regular library hours.
The Commons also has enhanced exterior lighting, interior monitoring cameras, and an on-site security guard.
