Commander Adrian "Yo" Lozano, United States Navy
Commander Adrian “Yo” Lozano graduated from the University of Washington in 1990 were
he received his commission through the Reserve Officers Training Corps program. Commander
Lozano was designated a Naval Flight Officer September 1992 and assigned to VS-41
for initial training in the S3-B Viking.
In May of 1994 he reported to the Red Griffins of VS-38 and deployed twice to the
Western Pacific and the Persian Gulf during DESERT STORM with Carrier Air Wing Two
(CVW-2) onboard the USS Constellation (CV-64). While assigned, he served as the NAVOSH
Officer, First Lieutenant and the Avionics and Armaments Division Officer. Commander
Lozano reported to Naval Station Roosevelt Roads in September 1997 as the Officer
in Charge of NAF Vieques. In January of 1999 he was transferred to the Surface Warfare
Tactics School (SWATS) and served as the lead VS instructor. He reported to Commander,
Sea Control Wing Pacific in March 2001 where he served as the Anti Submarine Warfare
tactics and training instructor. Commander Lozano reported to VS-29 serving as the
Administrative, Training and Operations Officer. He deployed with Carrier Air Wing
Eleven (CVW-11) in December 2002 onboard USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) to the Western Pacific
and Persian Gulf in support of ENDURING FREEDOM.
In June 2004, Commander Lozano reported to the U.S. Army Command and General Staff
College in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas where he received a Masters of Arts degree in and
Strategic Studies. In addition, he attended the Webster’s University and earned a
Master of Arts degree in Leadership and Management. In May 2006, Commander Lozano
reported to Navy Region Southwest where he worked in the Business Department. In the
summer of 2007, Commander Lozano volunteered as an Individual Augmentee (IA) and was assigned to the 1-BCT and
1-CAV Brigades in Taji, Iraq served as the Brigade’s Electronic Warfare Staff Officer.
One year later, CDR Lozano returned to Navy Region Southwest as the Deputy Operations
Officer. In 2010, CDR Lozano volunteered for his second IA, and deployed to U.S. Central
Command serving as the Coalition Force Generation Lead. Upon completion, he transferred
to Commander Third Fleet as Assistant Chief of Staff for Fleet requirements and experimentation.
Currently CDR Lozano is serving the Executive Officer and Associate Professor for
the University of Memphis and University of Mississippi NROTC units.
Commander Lozano’s personal awards include the, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service
Medal, three Meritorious Service Medals and two Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals.
He has accumulated over 2500 total flight hours and nearly 300 carrier arrested landings.
Commander Lozano is married to Trena Lozano of San Diego, California.
