Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Registered Nurses enrolled in the Bachelor Science in Nursing Program (RN to BSN)
complete online courses in an asynchronous format available 24 hours a day via eCourseware,
the University's web-based instructional program. RN to BSN clinical courses are conducted
at sites close to the student's home with appropriately credentialed mentors. The
School of Nursing faculty teach the didactic courses.
The RN to BSN Program is designed for Registered Nurses who have an unencumbered license,
or ADN students attending programs that participate in articulation agreements with
the LSON.
Requirements for the RN to BSN program:
- Be admitted to The University of Memphis as a degree seeking undergraduate student.
- Have a minimum College cumulative grade point average of 2.7 and a cumulative of 2.66
in prerequisite sciences. (A prerequisite science course may be repeated only once to earn a grade of "C" or
higher. A maximum of two prerequisite science courses may be repeated to earn the minimum
required grade.) Admission is competitive based on cumulative GPA (Developmental courses are not included.)
- Have completed specified nursing prerequisites (listed below) with a minimum grade
of "C" in all courses.
- Clear any high school deficiencies.
- Meet the University of Memphis minimum TOEFL score requirement of 173 computer-based,
61 Internet-based, or 500 paper-pencil or a minimum IELTS score of 5.0 for students
for whom English is a second language.
- Students who are transferring from another nursing program must submit a letter of
good standing from the dean/director of the previous nursing program and a transcript. Applicants with less than a grade of “C” in a nursing course will not be eligible
for consideration. This includes repeated courses in which a grade above “C” was earned.
- Have an active, unencumbered RN license, or be eligible for licensure
- Validation of current science knowledge.
- Complete and submit School of Nursing application for admission to Loewenberg School
of Nursing, The University of Memphis, 100 Billy Mac Jones, Memphis, TN 38152. RN Admission is processed on a continuing basis. Application is available by clicking on the Nursing BSN Application link at the right.

• Note: In order to allow adequate time for processing of the U of M transfer credit
evaluation you should receive your acceptance letter to the University by September 15 (Spring Term) or February
1 (Fall Term)
