Teaching:

Ms. West currently teaches Child Health Nursing and Child Health Nursing Practicum. She challenges students to analyze the specialty of nursing care of the infant, child, and adolescent in the classroom, and apply their knowledge in the clinical setting.

Service:

Ms. West serves on the Technology Integration Committee and the Simulation Committee in the Loewenberg School of Nursing. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the National League for Nursing, the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the Society for Pediatric Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau International, Beta Theta Chapter-at-Large. She serves the community through her volunteer work with the Hot Shots support group for children with diabetes and the Church Health Center.

Practice:

Ms. West is a certified diabetes educator. When not working with students, she serves as a patient educator at LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center and a vaccination nurse for the Memphis and Shelby County Health Department.

Ms. West has two adult children, Heather and Allen, and wonderful son-in-law, Jeremy. She can often be found at estate and yard sales searching for an unknown treasure, or at home with a good book.
