Research:
Ms. Thomas’ programs of research have focused on Mentoring, Peer Assistance for student
and practicing nurses and Quality Improvement.
Teaching:
Ms. Thomas currently teaches Nursing Leadership and Management, a senior course in
the BSN program. This final Nursing theory course emphasizes organizational assessment,
decision making and change, basic to functioning within the economic, social and political
realities of health care settings/systems.
Additionally she facilitates precepted student Clinical experiences using leadership
and management theories to coordinate the care of groups of patients.
Service:
Ms. Thomas serves on the Student Affairs committee, is the Faculty Advisor to the
Nursing Alumni Nursing Chapter and is a Vise President and Program Chairman of the
Beta Theta Chapter-at-Large Sigma Theta Tau International.
Practice:
As a Certified Mental Health Nurse and a Practicing Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
Ms. Thomas is actively engaged in community assessment, treatment and education regarding
individual physical, sexual and emotional violence.
