Laura Owens, Ph.D., RN Assistant Professor

Teaching: Dr. Owens currently teaches maternal newborn clinical and Introduction to Medical-Surgical
Nursing practicum in the BSN program. She also teaches Theoretical Foundations for
graduate students in the RODP program. She has experience teaching Nursing Research,
Health Assessment, Foundations of Nursing, and MSN Role Development.
Education: Dr. Owens received her BSN and MSN in Maternal/Child Nursing from the University of
Tennessee, Memphis and her Ph.D. from The University of Memphis. Research Interests and Expertise: Her research interests include Health Literacy and the impact it has on health promotion
and disease management.
