Teaching:
Prof. Jacobs is a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor at LSON, teaching undergraduate intro level clinical and skills courses. The completion of her MSN with an emphasis on nursing education builds on past experience in critical care, emergency, and transplant nursing.  Melanie’s particular interest in nursing education is the use of active learning techniques in helping students to develop a focus that is truly centered on the patient.

Education: 
Prof. Jacobs received a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from Arkansas Tech University and a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Memphis.

Other:
Prof. Jacobs’ household bleeds True Blue, as her husband, Dr. Eddie Jacobs, also teaches at the University of Memphis in the engineering department. Outside of nursing department activities, her interests include vocal music, literature, and paper crafts.
