Shirleatha Lee, PhD., RN, CNE Clinical Assistant Professor

Research:
Dr. Lee obtained her PhD in Nursing at the University of Tennessee Health Science
Center in 2009, where her research interests focused on examining the effects of severity
of obesity, electrocardiographic alterations, and cardiac risk factors in adolescents.
She has recently presented her research findings locally and regionally at the Southern
Regional Network for Minority Research Investigators Conference (National Institute
of Health and National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases), Summer
Nursing Residency Healthcare Conference, Southern Nursing Research Society, and Sigma
Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Evidence Based Practice Conference.

Teaching:
Dr. Lee is a Certified Nurse Educator and teaches Adult Health Practicum and Nursing
Research. She challenges students to think critically within the clinical setting
while safely, effectively, and compassionately providing quality-nursing care to the
hospitalized patient.
Service:
Dr. Lee was a member of the Student Affairs Committee, National League of Nursing,
an active member of Beta Theta Chapter-at-Large, Sigma Theta Tau International, and
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Practice:
Dr. Lee currently continues to practice nursing in the hospital setting. She is also
a Certified American Heart Association CPR Instructor.
