Teaching
Dr. Richardson is the course coordinator for Child Heath and has taught in the clinical
component of that course since 2007. She also has taught Content Mastery, preparing
seniors for the licensure exam; Pediatric Nursing II in Loewenberg’s Nursing Education
MSN program; and Scholarly Synthesis as faculty for graduate students in their final
semester.
Research
Dr. Richardson completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice studies at Vanderbilt School
of Nursing, graduating in May of 2010 in the inaugural class. Her scholarly project
”Transition of Graduates into the Workplace: Evaluation of the Faculty Navigator Program”
studied facilitation of role transition for University of Memphis’ Loewenberg School
of Nursing graduates. In this innovative process a faculty member guides new nurse
transition from school into the workplace, aligning graduates’ professional trajectories
with work best suited to academic strengths, clinical preferences, and nursing aspirations.
Service
In 2009, Dr. Richardson co-initiated the Mid-south Chapter of the Society of Pediatric
Nursing. She served on the Curriculum Committee in 2008 and at present.
Practice
As a pediatric nurse since 1984, Dr. Richardson has practiced neonatal nursing in
children’s hospitals for the majority of her career. For fourteen years she was the
clinical director for a critical care infant unit and for a nursing team responsible
for inserting and supporting central venous access device care at Le Bonheur Children’s
Hospital. Most recently she coordinated the pediatric graduate nurse program for
Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. She has been certified as a Nurse Executive with
the ANCC since 2006.
