Pre-Nursing Students
- Advised through the Academic Counseling Unit located in Wilder Tower until accepted
into LSON
- Assistant Dean for Students (Sheila Hall) is available to answer inquiries
Basic BSN Students
- Following admission to the School of Nursing, each student is assigned an advisor
from the school
- The advisor will assist the student in planning for completion of the BSN program
and will provide the opportunity for meaningful discussion regarding academic progress
and career goals
- The advisor's assistance, however, does not in any way relieve the student of the
primary responsibility for studying the Catalog and fulfilling all the requirements
for the degree
RN-BSN Students
- Prior to admission, RNs who are completing courses required for admission to the LSON
receive advising through the School of Nursing from the Assistant Dean for Student
Affairs
- Once application has been made to the LSON RNs will be advised by the LSON Academic
Advisor
Loans and Scholarships
- Complete applications and forms for financial aid available in the Student Financial
Aid Office
- Apply by March 31st for some scholarships through The Loewenberg School of Nursing
- Must be fully admitted to LSON to be eligible

Residency
- University residence requirements explained in detail in the Graduation from the University
section of the catalog
- Students transferring from a community or junior college must complete a minimum of
60 semester hours in an accredited senior institution. In addition, 30 of the last
60 semester hours for the degree must be completed at The University of Memphis
