A message from the Dean
Thank you for visiting our website to learn more about the Loewenberg School of Nursing and our programs of study. As prospective students, one of the most important career decisions that you will make is the selection of your professional school. Our undergraduate and graduate programs are designed to prepare you for clinical practice, leadership roles in health care, and graduate and doctoral study in nursing. As you consider the many academic opportunities available, please keep in mind our newest graduate program – the Executive Master of Science in Nursing Administration (E-MSN). I encourage you to visit the pages dedicated to the degree programs. As alumni, it’s important to stay connected through alumni events, volunteer opportunities, and giving back. Our Career Fair, Distinguished Lecture Series, and Outstanding Alumni Awards are excellent opportunities to meet other alumni in the area and get involved. Our variety of student scholarships, travel funds, and program support funds ensure the Loewenberg School of Nursing is the finest program in the area. Please visit the pages of our website dedicated to alumni news and the opportunities to give back. As a prospective faculty member, we have tenure-track, as well as clinical-track positions available. Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about making a difference through nursing education. The University of Memphis is located in a major, metropolitan city with a wide array of clinical agencies and settings for student clinical experiences. Memphis continues to experience a significant nursing shortage, as are many areas throughout the country. U of M students have full access to abundant learning opportunities that are available in the area’s largest healthcare systems and clinics. Local and national career, as well as mentoring, opportunities are abundant for graduates of our program. As you consider the many opportunities available for you as a student, an alumna or alumnus, or a faculty member, I encourage you to contact us if we can assist you in any way. Marjorie F. Luttrell, Ph.D., RN
