Student Nurses' Association

Students are encouraged to join their professional organization, Student Nurses' Association. This is the local chapter of the National Student Nurses' Association.

Sigma Theta Tau

Senior students who have achieved a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and who are recommended by faculty are eligible to apply for induction into Sigma Theta Tau, Beta Theta Chapter at Large of the International Nursing Honor Society.

Study Abroad Nursing Programs

Nursing in Diverse Cultures: Dominican Republic (NURS4331)
Twice a year, the Loewenberg School of Nursing at the University of Memphis has medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Working collaboratively with the Foundation for Peace, we provide basic health care services to the population of one of most impoverished countries in the world.

Global Perspectives Experience (NURS4309/7811)
International experiences are becoming increasingly important for health care professionals to gain global perspectives on health care, as well as broadening their cultural awareness. The itinerary is full of unique visits to reputable hospitals and institutions like the World Health Organization and the International Council of Nurses in Geneva. The program is open to upper division undergraduate and graduate level nursing students from The University of Memphis and any accredited public or private university.
