Research and Teaching
William's interests include Social and Political Philosophy, Ethics, and African-American Philosophy.

His current research involves an analysis of liberal political theories and their application to particular problems concerning the black underclass. Specifically he is concerned with how liberal political theories can effectively address non-material social goods such as respect, self-respect and power which are deficient and/or distorted in the black underclass. The underlying argument driving his research is that the state failed to fully integrate into mainstream society the group now comprising the black underclass, thereby harming the group materially and psychologically such that the state has a corrective duty to rectify such harms.
