Research and Teaching

Areas of philosophical interest include philosophy for children, ancient philosophy,
social epistemology, history of ethics, ethical theory, and Foucault on power, knowledge,
and normalization. Prior to pursuing his graduate education, Michael taught philosophy
to high school students in Salisbury, MD and Belize, Central America. He also led
philosophy discussion groups for two years at Eastern Correctional Institution in
Princess Anne, MD.
Michael is a co-founder of Philosophical Horizons, a community outreach program designed to introduce philosophy to students in Memphis
City Schools, and currently teaches PHIL 1102 to juniors at Booker T. Washington High
School.
