Professor James (PhD, University of North Carolina) joined the department in 1964.
He is a past president of the American Society for Value Inquiry and a past recipient
of the University of Memphis Distinguished Teaching Award. He has published numerous
articles, is a coauthor with Prof. Nancy Simco of Elementary Logic (Wadsworth), and is editor of the anthology, The Search for Faith and Justice in the Twentieth Century (Paragon). His primary areas of interest are value theory, applied ethics, American
philosophy, and philosophy of religion.
