Research and Teaching
Kevin's primary research interests rest in philosophy of mind, philosophy of cognitive science, and philosophy of music. Within these areas, he is focused on connections between cognition – particularly the 4E paradigms that understand cognition as an embodied, embedded, enactive, and extended phenomenon – and various artistic practices, particularly music. As a result, two specific focal points of his work include, first, embodied music cognition and, second, critically understanding how music not only reflects certain cognitive processes, but impacts and changes our mental capacities and the attendant social structures supporting them.

In terms of other research projects, Kevin has worked on questions surrounding group minds, joint action, improvised music, social cognition, and the computational theory of mind. He is also interested in ties between cognitive science and critical theory.
