Before her retirement in 2008, Professor Simco (PhD, University of Kansas) served as a tireless advocate for the department. She taught courses in analytic philosophy, contemporary metaphysics, and advanced logic. Her published work is mainly in logic. She served as Department Chair and Editor of The Southern Journal of Philosophy for many years. She also served as president of the Association of Philosophy Journal Editors, the Southern Society for Philosophy and Psychology, and the Southwestern Philosophical Society, as well as on numerous committees of several professional organizations.
